The Methow Valley & Eastern Cascades

The Methow Valley towns of Mazama, Winthrop, and Twisp are incredible basecamps for multi-sport elopements. Whether you want a rock climbing, mountain biking, or hiking wedding, this area has it all. The east side of the Cascades are also home to bucket-list elopement destinations like the alpine lakes of the Enchantments. And did I mention the incredible display of larches in the fall?

Your Adventure Starts Here: Where to Elope in Washington State

I’ve spent years traveling Washington’s wildest corners with my camera and scouting epic landscapes for adventurous couples. From snowy alpine peaks and moody coastal bluffs to sun-drenched ridgelines and old-growth forests, I’ve found some truly incredible places to say 'I do.'

I’m excited to share the best spots for adventure elopements in Washington so you can choose the stage for your biggest adventure yet.

Mt. Baker & Artist Point

Mt. Baker is a PNW playground just a short drive from Bellingham, offering endless possibilities for hiking, skiing, and technical mountaineering elopements. It’s also a dramatic centerpiece in photos from around the North Cascades. Artist Point, on the slopes of Mt. Baker, is one of my favorite spots for accessible vistas in the summer and especially shines for backcountry ski elopements in the winter.

Bellingham & The Local Coast

I love exploring close to home and sharing my local knowledge as a Bellingham wedding photographer. The area has so much to offer, from the forested trails of the Chuckanuts to wild-feeling beaches and coves. If you’re interested in a mountain bike wedding, it’s hard to beat the world-class singletrack on Galbraith.

The North Cascades

The jagged, glaciated peaks of the North Cascades are perfect for couples who want a true wilderness experience with 360-degree views and zero crowds. The hikes are long but rewarding, and there are endless options for technical adventure weddings. Some of my favorite spots for elopements include Cascade Pass, Hannegan Pass, the Glacier Peak wilderness, and Washington Pass.

Snoqualmie Pass & Mt. Rainier

I love Snoqualmie Pass because it’s easily accessible from Seattle and offers incredible versatility for adventure weddings in any season. It’s a terrific destination for hiking elopements in the summer. In the winter, it transforms into a winter playground for backcountry skiing elopements. Just a bit further south, Mt. Rainier National Park offers endless wildflower meadows and glacier views.

The San Juan Islands & Olympic Peninsula

If your idea of adventure involves ferry rides, sea spray, and old-growth forest, the Washington coast is perfect. A San Juan Islands elopement offers an intimate island-hopping experience with stunning sunset views. Alternatively, you can elope in Olympic National Park to start your wedding day in a lush temperate rainforest and catch the sunset on a rugged beach surrounded by sea stacks.
